Bell Ringer: Minimum Age 16
Happy Holidays! A local program that provides assistance to those in need throughout the year is need of volunteers to ring bells. Volunteers are needed to ring bells at various kettle locations in Wausau and surrounding areas. Bell ringers will be raising funds to support local programs and are needed 10a.m.-1p.m., 1p.m.-5p.m., 5p.m.-9p.m., or a combination of shifts with a two hour minimum time commitment. Volunteers will receive instructions upon arriving at their kettle location.
Community Christmas Dinner Assistant: Minimum Age 12
HO HO HO! A local church needs your help to ensure that everyone gets to enjoy Christmas dinner. Volunteers are needed December 24th from 1-4p.m. to assist with preparation. This includes preparing food for cooking, preparing boxes for delivered dinners and setting up tables and chairs. On December 25th volunteers are needed to deliver dinners to those that are homebound, serve dinner, clean up after dinner and wash dishes. Carolers and piano players are also needed to provide entertainment after dinner. Servers and clean up crew are needed from 8a.m.-3p.m. and drivers are needed at 10:45a.m. Homemade Christmas cookies are also needed for dinner.
Angel Tree/Shelter Booth Attendant: Minimum Age 16
Would you like to ensure that every child receives something special for the holidays? A local program that provides assistance to those in need throughout the year is in need of volunteers to check out and back in angel tree tags and also accept cash donations. Volunteers are needed during Wausau Center Mall hours and training will be provided at the site.
Reading Tutor: Minimum Age 18
Enjoy reading? Volunteers are needed at a local elementary school to work with students 1:1 on their reading skills. Volunteers are needed from 8:30-11a.m. and/or 12:30-2:30p.m.for 30 minutes to one hour. Volunteers should possess fluent reading skills, enjoy working with young children and demonstrate patience.
Youth Program Leader: Minimum Age:18
Do you have a positive attitude that you would like to share with others? If so, this volunteer opportunity may be for you. Volunteers are needed to work with youth in developing character development programs in the afternoons and evenings. Volunteers should be good with youth, organized, and have a positive attitude. Complete training will be provided.
Toy Cleaner: Minimum Age: 14 With Adult: 12
A local resource center is looking for someone to clean and sanitize toys in their playrooms. Volunteers are needed in the afternoon and after school. Training will be provided. This would be a great opportunity for friends who are looking to volunteer together, families, or groups.
Victim Telephone Contact Assistant: Minimum Age 18
Ever wanted to help victims of crimes but didn’t know how? Here’s your chance. Volunteers are needed to contact crime victims by phone to offer them information on available services. Volunteers should be compassionate and have the ability to maintain confidentiality. Hands on training will be provided.
Volunteer Ombudsman: Minimum Age 21
Volunteers are needed to advocate for residents in local assisted living facilities. A volunteer ombudsman visits local facilities talking to, supporting, and empowering residents and observing the facility, while also assisting residents is resolving issues and working with resident’s families. Seven hours of initial training starting on September 18th. Lunch is provided during training.
